Picture Day, Book Character Day and Field Trip

Hello Parents, Just a few reminders. Tomorrow October 29th is Picture day. Every student will get their picture taken tomorrow. These are the pictures that will be put in the yearbook. Please do not send your child to school in anything that is green in color. Book Character Day is Thursday October 31st. Your child may come to school dressed up as their favorite book character. They should bring the book so that they can share who they are. Please make sure they have clothes under the costume or that they have a change of clothes in their backpack. Costumes will only be worn in the morning. They will change prior to going to lunch. Field Trip is Friday November 1st. Please make sure your child is at school on time. We will be leaving the school around 9:30 am and returning around 1:30 pm. We will have lunch at the farm. If your child is bringing a lunch from home, please make sure it is in a plastic bag so that it can easily be thrown away. You may include a water bottle or juice for lunch. We will have extra water bottles for break time. Students should not bring personal bottles as they may get lost. Plus the children will be touching a lot of animals. If you are meeting us at Green Meadows, please make sure you are there by 10:00 am. Any questions, please let me know.

Upcoming Dates and information

Fall Festival is October 18^th. We will have a class booth. Our room mom, Mrs. Greer has contacted you about help for the booth and with prizes. We have two corn-hole boards where students will trade tickets for their chance to get a beanbag in the hole. We need small carnival type prizes. 

The Fall Book Fair will be open during Fall Festival. It runs October 16-24. Our class will be visiting the book fair on Wednesday October 16^th for a preview. Our purchase day is Monday October 21^st.

Hearing screening is also on Monday October 21^st.

No School October 24^th and 25^th.

Fall pictures are scheduled for October 29^th. More information to come.

Book Character day is Thursday October 31^st. Your child may dress up in the costume of a book character. They may wear the costume to school, but they must bring the book that the character is from. We will share our books in the morning and then change into regular clothes after. You may want to have your child wear other clothes under their costume or bring clothes to change into.

Field trip to Green Meadows Farm is Friday November 1^st. We have our two chaperones. If you want to attend the field trip, you are more than welcome to; you must meet us at the farm and pay the entrance fee there to walk around with your child. We will be having lunch there, so please pack one for you.

TEACH-IN is Wednesday November 20^th. If you have a special talent or job that you would like to come in and talk about with the students, please fill out the pink TEACH-IN form and return to school ASAP or sign up on Volunteer Spot. You can also just come read a story and bring a craft to go with it, if you like.

Upcoming Events

Hello paernts,
Today, after school is Panda Express Spirit Night. Please support Sunset Park by going to Panda Express in Winter Garden Village. Money raised comes back to Sunset Park.

Thursday October 3rd is Papa John's Spirit Night and it benefits Kindergarten. Money raised comes back to the Kindergarten Grade Level so that we in turn can use it for the Kindergarten students. Top class gets a pizza party. Our class won in Septmeber, so let's do it again!

Field Trip money is due Friday October 4th. Please send money and permission forms as soon as possible.

Conferences start next week. If you have not signed up for eon, see the Volunteer Spot email to do so.

All Library books are due before next Monday October 7th.

Library books and rainy day

Hello parents,

Many student brought home library books yesterday. These books are for you and your child to read. They do not need to return the books until the next time we have media. if they want to return the before that, they can do that also. I will post on the blog a reminder the day before we go to media next so that we can meke sure all students have their books retruned. They can onloy check out another book, when they one they have is returned.

Monday afternoon and today, we have been on rainy day schedule. We have been in mrs. Conklin's room as our room is assigned to 1st grade on rainy days. We have had to adjust our class a little. Students did not get their stickers yesterday, but they will get them today. We have still been doing academics in the classroom. We have been learning about Johnny Appleseed while completing reading and math activities. We are thankful to Mrs. Conklin for sharing her room and hope to be back in ours soon.
